Though, having said that, I guess it depends on what you were brought up on. Those of us who grew up on Vegemite probably find Marmite too bland. Those of you brought up on Marmite probably find Vegemite too salty. The trick with Vegemite if you're not used to it, is to spread it much more thinly than you would Marmite.

I'm a take-it-or-leave-it kinda gal - although my boys love it so I do occasionally indulge (our technique is to mix some into the butter and spread that on the bread because the boys can't get the hang of spreading it thinly enough.

It is an essential cooking ingredient in my 4 bean chilli although I put nam pla in my meat one which does the job better.
