Very very plain main tiles, Ben! Big and just off-white.

Getting the timings right is turning into a nightmare! My bathroom guy is free up to 4th August, and I'm trying to finalise the house completion for the 20 something of July. I ordered the sanitary ware on 21 June, with an estimated 3 weeks delivery. Sleepless nights followed as I tried to work out where to store it if it arrived before completion.
They're just off the phone to arrange delivery, and the earliest they can do is......2nd August!!!!!!!! Aaaaaargh!!!!!!

you have exchanged contracts then? Before you ordered the stuff I hope?
Moving house is right up there with the other big traumatic life events.

No, haven't exchanged contracts yet. It's a lot of finger-crossing, I know, but I want the bathroom done as soon as I take possession, and before I move in. So anything with a delivery time needs to be ordered in advance.

Never mind watching this space - after all this free advice, we'll all be wanting to drop by for a pee.

it took us a while to complete our bathroom
you need the plumber in to first fix all the pipework
than you need to tile it
then when the stuff is delivered it can be fitted
this might take some juggling, as you might have to be using the facilitys in the bathroom as you are refurbishing it???

Well the ideal that I was aiming for was to exchange contracts, get the bathroom done straight away (in 10 days, say) before moving in ourselves. At least to get the heavy and dirty work involved in ripping the old one out done before we start living there.
Victoria Plumb have a good range of stuff, and can deliver in 7 days....but not to Norn Irn

I got mine done about a year ago. The guys were putting the WC in every night when I came home from work, and taking it away in the morning to do all the other work. Not really ideal, so I can see why you want the dirty work done before you move in!

Definitely worth not being there, if you can manage it.
Good luck with the juggling.

I'm not really here Posted Jul 4, 2010
My bathroom is still halfway through being done, but bath wasn't changed, so not too much disruption. Toilet will all be ripped out and hoping for a low level flush, but won't know until they get in there.
As I used to be a regular camper, we're used to using a chemical loo, which I will set up, hmm, depends on what time of year, but probably in the garden under the stand alone awning.

don't know about any of the above circus skill type stuff - I am still crossing my fingers regarding the exchange of contracts

Some very enterprising people in a village not far from us have got together and it was well worth a little extra money. The plumber's wife had everything under control and worked out a schedule with the tilers and everyone else involved in getting the bathroom together. They liaised with each other and we didn't have any hassle at all. Pipes neede laying, tiles went down on one part, then the loo etc had to be fitted, then the remainder of the tiles went over the remaining holes. It looks really nice. We have rough grey, slatey tiles on the floor, too.

Oh yes - and I'm for the exchange of contracts, too.

My bathroom guy does most of the work himself, plumbing, electrics and tiling at least - I think he'll need to get in a separate plasterer.
Cancelled the order with B&Q - they agreed that 6+ weeks was far too long a lead time.
Vic Plumb DO deliver to Norn Irn, at a cost, but even at £125 on top of their prices it's still cheaper than B&Q's "50% off with another 15% off" deal was. And they can deliver in 7-10 days.
I'm planning to visit a local independent showroom tomorrow to get some comparisons.

Even more intriguing - I thought the local independent would be dearer, but he's given me a very competitive quote for a suite with much nicer taps, AND they have the items in stock AND delivery is free AND they can deliver at a few days notice. Which means I can hold off until the contratcs are nearer completion before ordering (they'll stand over the quote they've given).
And c'mon, who wouldn't want to buy from a company with the magnificent moniker of Spendlove C Jebb
