Right - you can do it and probably write off the cost as a allowable expense.
Skip this meeting and go to the dome - and take a pen and paper with you and write up a nice article or two...
(see if you can't tempt me over that side of the water - its a bit expensive for me to come over on a whim as there's the air fare to add etc.)

I went there in April - I was in London anyway celebrating my son's last days in the UK and it seemed like a good idea.

It wasn't as crowded as I'd been led to believe, but we did get there at 9 o clock. We finished at about 4 - I would have been happy ambling round a bit longer, but the others in my party (3 adults) had done enough by then.

The exhibits were OK, but I occasionally felt I was being talked down to.

The arena show is well worth seeing - from a theatrical point of view the stage management team must have nightmares about it all working.

Would I go again? Possibly if I lived in London.

Did I enjoy? Yes.

Did others in my group enjoy ? Yes, but not to the same level as me.

What most impressed me? The arena show. The mini airships that move around the dome, feeling their way through obstacles using a computer guidance system. The use of scooters by the staff to move quickly around the outside areas.

What least impressed me? One of the fast food places has salt and sugar in similar packets - those awful thin tube things. Sugar and chips is not a good combination.

Could be worse - My brother once had salt on grapefruit (and ate it all) but that's another story.

I have asked Sam to cover for Abi (using NPFAH management) so we should get a second opinion soon. smiley - winkeye

Well - its not a double-blind experiment if you do it....even if you are testing to see if you are psychic you need someone to perform a placebo test, ideally dressed as and sounding just like you... smiley - smiley

Pardon my intrusion, but does no-one except me care that the so-called Millenium Dome (which I have not seen since Tasmania is about twelve thousand miles and 5000 dollars which I don't have away from London) is called the Millenium Dome? Or were the English just making sure they had something in place for when the real Millenium arrives in about six months' time? PS Here in Tasmania we had a total eclipse of the moon last night.

Since no-one has done the pedantic spelling check, you're all talking about something that doesn't exist.

The rebuke is well justified, Wandrin'star. Spelling lapses notwithstanding, I still ask if the Millennium Dome commemorates the ending of the current millennium or the commencement of the new one which will begin next year.

The end of the last one - given that some of the contents and ideas sound positivelt Victorian

Never went. Ashamed of the whole bloody thing. Total waste of money and now it still costs £250,000 a *month* in upkeep!

I went, and thoroughly enjoyed it. (I heard that the government paid eighty quid per visitor or something ludicrous, so I went to get my free moneys-worth smiley - winkeye) I note that most of the people who complain about it never went, or at least never went inside.

Do I mind it made a loss? No. It was a celebration, not a business. Should it still be being paid for? - erm, no. How hard can it be to sell real estate in central London?

I never went to the exhibition, as the publicity indicated to me that as an idea it was a bit of a dog's dinner. That said the building itself is boss. I used to drive through the Greenwich tunnel on a regular basis as they were building the thing and I was most impressed. Lets hope it gets used for something a bit better this time around smiley - ok

I'm only resurrecting threads that catch my fancy as they come out of hibernation
