As usual, the government department denies there is a problem. Head in sand syndrome, methinks.

First David Davis and now this. I wish people would stop mucking about with my paradigm: it's getting unsettling.

Third tower mystery 'solved'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7491020.stm
What bothers me about this film is that it sounds like the bbc has edited the film by adding screams and calls as the building collapses. It just doesn't seem to 'fit' that people would react in that way to the third collapse.

the Italian government seems to be moving a little slowly on that Pompeii disaster -- the victims have been waiting since 79 A. D.
Seriously, though, I'm glad I got there twenty-five years ago. This seemingly unavoidable neglect is the sad result of some nations having a wealth of archaeology which overwhelms all other forms of wealth.

I feel I must mention a news story which caught my attention today (at least one here will have noticed it as well):
'Hailing it as an "architectural treasure," Prime Minister Stephen Harper joined hundreds of guests as the biggest mosque ever built in Canada opened its doors on Saturday. . .
Harper was joined at the opening by several federal and provincial politicians, including Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion.'
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2008/07/05/calgary-mosque.html
For those unfamiliar with Canadian politics, M. Dion is the Leader of the Opposition, while Mr. Harper leads a minority government, so, in effect, we are always on the verge of a snap election pitting these two against each other.
Could we imagine, for example, the two candidates for the U.S. presidency allowing themselves even to be seen at a mosque?
