Is Llamatron the greatest computer game ever..?

I had Llamatron on the Atari ST. And yes, it was the greatest computer game ever! I have distinct memories of shooting at giant toilets, green horse-like things and other peculiar objects.

Ah, joy.

Tragically, I think my Amiga had broken by that point, after years of loyal service, and I'd stopped buying it. Those crazy guys.

I'm buying PSW now to feed my PS2 habit, and they have a similarly cavalier attitude to reviewing games and filling their mag odd stuff. They also seem to be on a mission to get the word 'porn' into every page. Current favorite quote:

"This game is so technologically retarted it makes the Amish communities of Mid-Western America look like extras from Tron." smiley - laugh

Actually, I have literally /hundreds/ of demo discs from the various amiga magazines. The pitiable thing is that dad chucked all the magazines when he moved, else I'd still have them too.

Heh. Llamatron and the Text-based hell that is "Adventure" were two of my favourite games...

Just remembered reading a review of Turrican 3- halfway through, the reviewer got bored and reviewed Tom Cruise flick "The Firm" instead.

Now that's quality journalism!

I've been trying to remember what the baddies were always called in the Yak's game.

Something like the XXYAX Empire wasn't it?

Well before the amiga came out i had a ZX spectrum! My fav games are there were jetpac n this school game called skooldaze! You had a peashooter n you could shoot at teachers or the teachers pet!

You're def inately right when you say games that relied on gameplay rather than fancy graphics are always the best.

I'm a massive Nintendo fan. You can't beat Super Mario kart on the SNES or Super Mario World.

I've been looking on eBay for a Spectrum i really want one again even if it was to hear the vile noise it made when you loaded up the games!

Unfortunately i don't own a pc as i use a digibox but yes i knew that. When i went on eBay yesterday i saw someone selling over 6000 games that you played through an emulator.

The spectrum was one of the greatest computers in its time for games. I used to hate it when you loaded a game for nearly 15 mins n it crashed as soon as it finished loading smiley - yikes

I don't know how kids today think the x-box is so great.

It's hard to believe that i paid £139.99 for a spectrum when it came out n now you can pay £79.99 for a gamecube!

I'll have to have a think of other games i used to love playing.

What about stuntcar racing on the amiga?

Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker?

Treasure Island Dizzy on the spectrum

There's far too many to mention here!

Ah, the old ZX Spectrum.... happy days. I firmly believe that there were some games where if ANYONE moved too heavily near the machine while it was loading...

Yep, loved Jet Set Willy, Manic Miner, etc. Have to admit that I didn't like the Dizzy games quite so much. I always used to die all the time.

I LOVED Stunt Driver on the Amiga, that game was pure class. Also used to play the early F1 driving games before they dissapeared up their own fundaments. Ah.

On a technical note, does anyone know why, when loading a Spectrum game, some games had yellow and blue stripes flashing and others had red and black?
