I've found http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/3125406.stm -mentions him talking to sixth-formers.

Yup. He was persuaded it might be a stupid idea and Mr Martin's invitation was withdrawn.

Oh, and an article which mentions that he was initially convicted of murder, backing up what both Blues Shark and myself said...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/norfolk/3087003.stm

I quote:

"19 April 2000: Martin is jailed for life for the murder of Fred Barras, with 10 years to run concurrently for the wounding offence and a further 12 months for possession of an illegal firearm."

And then, later in the article:

"30 October 2001: Martin's murder conviction reduced to manslaughter, and his 10-year sentence for wounding Fearon is cut to three years, to run concurrently."

So, convicted of murder, downgraded to manslughter on appeal, as I said immediately before the ranting of Al Symer.

Thought everyone knew he was originally convicted of murder?

But would the Conservatives not be better focusing on the war in Iraq rather than Tony Martin.
I agree with an earlier postee that said this could have been a fantastic chance fro the tories but instead they are using the conference to fight amongst themselves.

Maybe they will realise that soon, but by the time we do,we may have another four years of Blair.

Well Labour anyway.

Apparently not:

"he was found guilty of manslaughter, by a jury who listened to all the facts of the case"

Given that unseating the present Government would take the biggest swing in electoral history, I think the Labour party were safe even if the Tories weren't about to vote for Michael Howard to lead them.

All present Tory party policy is doing is ensuring that the margin of victory will probably still be big enough after the next election to ensure we get another 8 years of Labour government.

I'm not going to smiley - cry. I've still not fortgotten what 18 years of Tory greed, stupidity and corruption did to this country.

Blair may be a t*ss*r, but at least he's not a T8ry and his chancellor is a decent man.
