Cuddlywolf
I enjoyed reading that so thank's!
I thought it was lvely as well you greeting everyone who put in posts. H2G2 needs more people like you
One thing i can say tho is LDers are a close knit family. Its very easy to make friends on there.
Did you meet your othr half in LD?
If it wasn't for LD i would never have met or even knew my girlfriend existed so if there was only one thing i can take from LD then that would be it.
So LD has done ALOT for me.

Lucky Star
I was only kidding about all that 42ism stuff
I'm a big star trek fan n go to some conventions n i certainly wouldnt dress up as any of the cast!
I prefer keeping a low profile you know on the fringes of everything.
I'm a massive fan of ask h2g2 (subscribed to it).
It helps me out on a few things (well the people have).
I haven't seen any other site where you can post a question n get a reply within half hour at any time of the day.
I'll have to read your Guide Entries later on cus i'm off out in a little while.
I work voluntary for age concern visiting old people in their homes if they've no company. Helps me out as well as I rarely speak to anyone apart from my girlfriend. There's a bit about it in my journal if you're interested!
I don't think i've got the know how or the confidence to write a proper entry. I'm not that good with english really n if people were sying i needed to do this or that to it or if people say they didn't think this was that good i don't think i could cope with the knockback tho i do know its all said in a positive way

cuddly wolf
The last 4 relationships i've had i've met them through the net LOL
Well first 2 was through email at work n last 2 you already know as i've put it in an earlier posting.
I've never had the confidence to go up to a woman in a pub or wherever n even talk to them never mind anything else as i don't like rejection (who does?)
I find it easier getting to know someone through a site like LD where you can see what the person is really like. Mind you i had a shock when i first met up with my girlfriend as shes totally gorgeous
Anyway enough of that i MUST get ready!
Hope you'll be on later cuddly (can i call you that?)
Take care

Not feeling up to writing an entry on your own doesn't mean you can't contribute to some.
I've never written an entire entry, but there are 17 listed edited entries on my personal space that I've been credited for either by making some comments on the weekly collaborative entry (A1067834 this week) or by commenting in PeerReview (PR isn't just about correcting peoples spelling - it's about telling people what you liked about an entry or which bits you didn't understand or follow...it stops people from writing very in depth entries that can only be understood by a few people). I'm subscribed to PR but I unsubscribe from the topics which I don't know anything about or which I'm not interested in.
(searching for those threads btw - but the search engine for threads is in need of an upgrade)

Instead of the threads, why not take a look at the reason the question was asked. The History of h2g2 - project 42- is here: U189013 with all the links to the threads as well.
I don't think the project is finished, so why don't one of you write a history of how LD came to h2g2 and ask vegiman to include it.

Wow coelacanth - that's been a well kept secret...damn - I'm not going to get any work done today with that to trawl through
Diddy - some specific threads/entrys which might interest you:
F19585?thread=227863 which was (I think) the thread I was thinking of, starts off with someone asking if h2g2 is dying and turns into a discussion of the ACE system and some potted histories of h2g2. Looking at that thread has made me realise I've been here for a whole year...but as usual forgot to mention my birthday in advance and so missed out on all the pressies
A695504 F19585?thread=161085 and F19585?thread=117660 are all discussions of how different people found the site and got to grips with it.

>Not feeling up to writing an entry on your own doesn't mean you can't contribute to some.<
Pencil Queen is right... The Collaborative entries are a good/safe way to contribute to the Edited Guide...
coelacanth... Invitation accepted... Another ex-LDer has written something about LD and, agreed to let me use her stuff for a more detailed one... As usual, a few things delayed that project, but there should be no problem adapting some of it for the The History of h2g2 - project 42- and posting the info there...
Pencil Queen, for the links...
I haven't read all the backlog for this thread yet, but from what i've read, it does show that whatever sites people use they are not that different after all [i'm talking about the positive points here...]...
For example:
Romances did blossom on LD and some did eventually work out... Romances do blossom on h2g2 and some eventually work out...
There is even an entry about h2g2 Romances somewhere...
[apologies if it has been already mentioned by the way]
loup
PS... My h2g2 birthday is in August..
