I suppose there's a buck to be earned by someone who wants to put this sort of stuff together on an album ...
BBC Test Match Special (carribean rythym)
BBC Formula 1 )Fleetwood Mac minus Stevie Nicks)
Channel 4 Tour de France
erm ...

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Jun 3, 2003
Has it not been done at some time in the past? I've got a number of tv theme tune cds in my collection, including one devoted entirely to 'Danger Man' And I know I have another one in a box somewhere which has the Match of the Day music on it.
The cricket music is 'Soul Limbo' by Booker T and the MGs btw

Do you mean the one which goes:
diddle-dum diddle-dum diddle-diddle-diddle-dum ?
Because if so, it's Mozart's 'A Musical Joke'.

Stark - Off for a fortnight. See you when I sober up! Posted Jun 3, 2003
I have a disc with all the great sporting themes on it including some really old ones like the original Match of the Day, and my personal fave - "Ski Sunday". I also believe it's a BBC disc so posting the track list wouldn't contrevene the House Rules about copyright would it?
I've just gotta find the damn thing now.

The CD in question is called "Great Sporting Themes", comes recommended by me, and looks to be snip at £5.99 at Amazon (other online CD retailers available).
To the list, I would of course add the BBC Snooker theme ('Drag Racer'), and the simply marvellous Football League Show music, which sadly isn't on the aforementioned disc. Question of Sport's pretty funky, too.

I don't suppose Z-Cars theme counts ?

Because of its Everton connections, you mean?
No, I think that's a bit of a long-shot.
Good tune though.

At the merment, I'd settle for a return to Match of the Day on the BBC. ITV's coverage sucks.
And it's got Ron Atkinson in it.

Back when Channel four used to show a huge variety of random sports on weekend mornings (kabaddi followed by sumo wrestling anyone?) the gaelic games programme had a theme tune that sounded as if it was by Altan or Clannad, or someone of that ilk.
Does anyone else remember this? And why can't they start showing them again?

Bizzarly I was thinking of those yesterday while on this conversation.

The old BBC1 F1 coverage was Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" by the way - from the bridge onwards (and it's a long song which is why so few people get that far and believe me when I tell them )
