mouse balls, mice ball, mice balls...
..sounds a bit like karl valentin's "semmelknoedel" and "semmelnknoedeln"...nice little sketch. about taking more than one roll (roll="semmel", rolls="semmeln") to make dumplings. i don't know whether there exists an adequate translation or not, but if i'm able to find out, i'll let you know...

SHeesh! Take it easy.. I was half asleep when I read the posting and didn't notice the 'Ask H2G2' part.. and I've seen that about a dozen times so far in the last week (both email and here).

My high school got mice without balls so that the students couldn't steal the balls.

You can call me TC Posted Nov 20, 2000
Hi Tuesday. Semmelknödel immediately sprung to my mind, too - but it's impossible to translate. There's so much English humour which is impossible to translate into German, it's nice that there's some the other way around, too.
We spent ages puzzling over a translation for the famous line (out of HHGG)
Arthur "What's so unpleasant about being drunk?"
Ford: "You ask a glass of water"
Can you translate that into any other language?
