Fish and Chips

They're particularly ravenous tonight, those little guppies. I normally leave them a bite before I head to sleep, if for no other reason but to watch them converge and feed. The male, bright orange in fins, is quite adept at diving down after loose, sinking pieces of food. Much like a bird diving down after seed tossed from our balcony.
After handing out all of this food to the wildlife around, I have to wonder who is feeding me. I suppose today was an exception, illness left me to drinking several bowls of Evolin's chicken soup. Normally I take quite hearty meals, and I only prepare a third of them. It's rather nice, but I do my share of preparing meals for others, too. I just don't usually get to eat them.

You must watch out, like the fish and birds, for sometimes a meal is very chance, yet very neccessary, occasion. Like the guppies people take was they can get to fill their bellies, often fighting for it and taking more than their share, though it often just rots in dissuse. The guppies only get the fatter for it.

Very true, very true... I don't let them starve, though. They get their food regularly, and I tend to feed them little bits sometimes during the day. And they're certainly not fat! Whatever they miss just floats to the bottom, where I've seen them peck at later or perhaps even the snails come and destroy it. I'm not all that sure, myself, but everything looks clean in the morning.
