I take my image seriously.
Truthfully, it depends on what I'm doing and who I'm expecting to show up. I can be the proper little librarian when I need to be. Today I'm wearing jeans and a library shirt.

We have all sorts of library shirts for staff to wear. Polos with the library name on the pocket, lots of tees with reading themes with the library name on the sleeve, sweatshirts for winter. Add in the tees with the summer reading themes and staff who have been here for many years have a lot of shirts to choose from. The public enjoys our shirts more than they would regular business attire. And this is a casual sort of town. Jeans/slacks and library shirts aren't out of place here. On Fridays we wear shirts supporting the high school sports teams.

Agreed. It's also more comfortable for everyone. Part of me likes to dress up, but being comfortable and casual is better. Can you imagine wearing the bone corsets and such that women routinely wore years ago? Even when I was a girl, a girdle was just part of your every day undergarments. Boy am I glad times have changed.

I remember those, too. We had long, woollen stockings which we fastened to those. They're sold as 'sexy accessories' for a lot of money nowadays. Not for itchy, thick woollen stockings, though.

As long as we didn't jiggle, it didn't matter if we could breathe or not. Jiggling wasn't allowed. Remember what a procedure it was to go to the bathroom? And when you took it off, there were always those awful accordion marks around your waist.

Bel, are you thinking of the garter belts? I remember those, too. Well, we didn't have panty hose (tights) in those days. We needed something to hold up our stockings. No proper lady would be caught dead with bare legs.

Were you talking of a Mieder?

Bel, this is the type of girdle I meant.

And this is a garter belt.

The first are called Miederhosen here, and the second is what I meant with 'expensive, sexy accessory' - they didn't look anything like that in my time. Not for girls, anyway.

Bel, you could try copying and pasting the © back into your tag. I did a copy and paste and got the 'squiggly' bits back in my name.
