Two weeks of travel for work over and now I'm finally back home. I drank two litres of milk this morning and had kippers on toast. Now that's comfort.
Now I have to face four days of hell on a commercial with a director who is not my favourite and then the rest of the week and half the next getting ready for a federal election no one wants. Oh the humanity! But at least I might show up tomorrow with kipper breath.

Oh the Humanity?
Are you comparing a federal election with a large gas-filled balloon headed for disaster?
Well, it does seem an accurate comparison now that I think about it.

Or perhaps an airship completely adrift that sets fire to its occupants and then drops them.
Hmm, which one of these?

I just got back from one week of travel and I'll say nothing more about it (except that I'm recovering with beer, bourbon and tortellini). Contrary to your suggestion, I am one who want's this election -- I want it to end far differently than it probably will. I was glad to see today that the Conservatives are again slipping in the polls.

*A large gas-filled balloon headed for disaster* would be the politicians. *An airship completely adrift that sets fire to its occupants and then drops them* would be the government. *beer, bourbon and tortellini* could possibly allow you to fill the large balloon ...
I got to visit my sister in Nelson before I headed back so I am turning boxes of pears, plumbs, apples and beets into Christmas canning. My back hurts and my 7th floor apartment hallway smells like..... I'm not sure what.

'my 7th floor apartment hallway smells like.....'
perhaps 'pears, plumbs[sic], apples and beets' vinegar, pickling spices and kippers.?
My house smelled like I'm not sure what after I'd been away for a week.
