Emily Dickinson

I would also add that the home of the American poet Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) still stands in the Amherst neighborhood. When I was a student at the University of Massachusetts I lived two blocks from this historical site. As I passed it every day on my way to school, work, or social event (read parties/bars), I would swear that before I left Amherst I would take the tour of the house. Finally, the week before I moved away I pried open a window in my schedule and walked up the street only to find that it was closed on Mondays.
