A Conversation for Talking Point: What Should We Do With h2g2?

Changes to h2g2?

What would you like to do with your Personal Space that you can't do now?

I'd like to be able to unsubscribe to multiple conversations at one time if desired (perhaps a check box by each one instead of an asterisk, so you can select more than one at a time) - it's a very time consuming business at the moment.

Also, I would like a private messaging facility between users that not everyone can access. Sometimes users like to speak privately or swap personal details without the whole site being able to see!

I second the mass unsubscribing idea. Drives me mad.

Do you not think being able to view "private" conversations between researchers is part of h2g2's charm? I certainly do!

Besides, if they want a totally private conversation, they can do it offsite, thorugh email, instant messaging, a phone-call...

Trouble is, if it's someone you've met on site and want to have a more in-depth discussion with that person about an issue that's been raised on the boards, without clogging up the boards and getting in everyone's way, you can't get their e-mail address. Unless I'm missing something?

Leave them a message on their Personal Space?

You can ask them for their email address though.

I second the mass unsubscribe option wholeheartedly.

As someone who's been a victim of really unpleasant conversations on h2g2, I'm very glad that we don't have a private messaging function. The fact that those conversations were viewable by anyone is what helped put an end to them.
