Yep. That makes it flax. I work with plants every day; and I'm always forgetting the names of things.

My Grandfather is my inspiration too. Sadly, I wasn't very interested in plants when I was young enough to have learned from him directly; and now he's gone. He worked hard all his life and found respite in his garden... and in the gardens of his many friends and acquaintances, which he shared and helped nurture. Now that I am older, I find that much of what I do is in unconscious imitation of things I remember of him.
I have a small garden at home, which is crammed with a hodgepodge of plants. At work I look after the gardens in some public parks. They range from the fairly conventional to the probably quite mad. I like to use a lot of herbs, particularly mints and sages.
What sort of garden do your human flowers grow in? I don't have much experience of little people; although my clever sister recently produced two tiny ones.
Sweet dreams.

A friend is like a glass of water in the desert....
At the moment I´m just so happy that everything in my little mini garden grows and comes back ... To the small children I work with I try to give warmth, care ,food, and happines... I try to teach them to care about everything that grows and is alive.

Your children would like one of my gardens, in particular, I think. It has a lot of different kinds of mint growing in raised beds; and, after a summer's rain, it smells like a bubble gum farm.

Ah, thanks for the pillow. My poor feet are hot and tired. Today I cut back a little hedge of lavender, then mowed a lot of thyme. What a wonderful smell...
Isn't one of the most wonderful things about gardens the way unexpected guests pop up? It's always fun to see what the birds have brought to the garden.
Happy gardening.

I do have quite a lot of flax, growing amongst wildflowers. It does well where I work, and seeds itself about quite wantonly. I don't have a a rose garden, as such; but I do have quite a lot of shrub roses of the rugosa type, which are as tough as old boots.
Good luck with the dolls theatre. Have fun!

Hello again!
I feel that you are an old friend, I pretend that this is the case...hope you don´t mind?!!
The old mint I have is a mentha spicata Crispa, I think that this was the most common one about a 100 years ago.I also have peppermint but I like this old one the best. For tea peppermint is the best though..
-Where do you live? (Far away I guess...)
Maybe someday I can walk in a garden where you have worked...
I feel so happy about our little conversation, ususally I just work, and work, but thinking about gardens feels really grate.
you must like your work, as I like mine!
The dolls theatre was really grate, I was the young fisherman and the children where really talking to the dolls and laughing !!! I have planted some old violets (the kind that smells good)in the summer....now I get too sleepy ! Goodnight my friend!

Thank you. I'm glad that you think of me as a friend, and hope that I am worthy of it.
I don't think I have any curly mint, but I do have some spearmint. The rest are a hodgepodge of different kinds that were donated by a local perennial nursery a couple of years ago. A lot have grown in together, so it's hard to tell where one ends and the next begins. One I particularly like is chocolate mint, which has deep green leaves and very dark stems. When the leaves are crushed it smells distinctly of chocolate.
I live in Ontario, and work on the shore of Lake Ontario, near Toronto. It's a beautiful place to work; and I enjoy meeting people. But it is often frustrating to grow gardens in public spaces, as people often steal or break things. Still, I wouldn't give it up.
I'm glad the Dolls' Theatre went well. I can imagine all those children laughing and shouting. It must have been quite a spectacle. My wife works at the public library, and sometimes has to read stories to groups of young children. Sometimes the things that the young ones say and do are quite hilarious.
Sleep well.

Hello!
So far away!( I live in Sweden, but don´t tell anyone..)
I thought that you where maybe in London or so...
But who knows, maybe I will visit Canada once again!
I was just across the border to Canada once when I was working as a campleader on a camp outside Buffalo for nine weeks.Living in a tent with wooden floor. I was responsible for the nature department and had some canoing classes. On one of my free weekends, I went to Niagara falls on the Canadian side and spent the night there.
I also have an old penfriend, since many years back, and she lives in Alberta....
-is so big !- and interesting!
I feel sad about people damaging and stealing in your parks/ gardens
To a city these green areas are like reservoirs of clean air and very important!Have you been travelling in the world??
Well,Today is gone... so let´s hope for tomorrow!
Sleep Well my friend!
