Yes, Yes, we all know WA's ginormous. But there's not much out there either *G*
Congratulations!!!
theMartian Posted Feb 28, 2002
Oh the embarrasment... Of course you are right, but how that was not picked up on the first (let alone tenth) read through I will never know.
I was of course refering to the population of Sydney and Melbourne and their apparent status as the leading cities in Aus. Of course everyone knows that SA is much bigger (and better) than Victoria, but I think you will find NSW is a comparable size (having driven from one side to the other NSW is geographically pretty large,
As for WA, my recollections are that Perth has about the same population as Adelaide. Plus, we have the largest lake, the largest state debt, and the largest rocking horse. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it!
p.s. not sure bout that largest state debt thing. I think we might have lost that title...
Congratulations!!!

Ah, so it was population size. Maybe just sneak that in there for clarification. Else we may have many, many people thinking Victoria's bigger than us! (I still say Us, even though I'm in Sydney. I was BORN in Adelaide! Sydney's smelly! )
Congratulations!!!

Its been placed on the recommended list, so I can't change it.
I assume the Sub will read this when editing it though.
Maybe you could do an article on the clean sweet air over here as opposed to over there!
Congratulations!!!

Mebbe I will...
And I'll call it "Adelaide - The City You Can Breathe In"
*snix* So you're actually in Adelaide itself? Ooooh.
Congratulations!!!

WA: the most space for everybody!
The biggest salt lake in Oz (Lake Disappointment)
The biggest cattle (And the LORD said unto the shepard: "P**s off, this is cattle country")
Mozzies big as eagles
Iron ore ....
Congratulations!!!

Currently have a view from my window over the rooftops of the buildings in the southern half of the city ... Probably the inspiration for sitting here and writing the peice in the first place.
SA -
The lifestyle...
The largest Opal deposits in the world...
The lifestyle...
ummm...
The lifestyle...
A nuclear waste dump that is really quite picturesque in the twilight...
The refugee detention centre voted "Most Hated" three years running...
But really when it comes down to it there is no competition. And the proof is that we must be better because we are always a few hours ahead.
But I dont think either of our states have anything to prove.
Congratulations!!!

*chuckles as she's nudged*
Oooh. You're on the south side? I'm a Northern Suburbs girl myself. Elizabeth, Salisbury...Dole town..*chuckles*
Lesse...we have the..er...Lifestyle.
Best wine in the world...(IMHO)
Cleanest air of any capital city, bar Darwin. But Darwin's not really a city. More just a big town.
The..uh..We have ducks? On the Torrens? Lots of them. And they're cute *nodnods and laughs*
And we have the best pubs in the world for any aspiring underage drinker. I should know. I was down the Strath on North Terrace every wednesday, thursday, friday night. Naughtythulhu
Congratulations!!!

In the second footnote, Juan Antonio Samaranch is quoted as being head of the F1 GP committee. Juan was, of course, head of the internationalk Olympic committee. I believe the man you should be referring to as head of F1 is Bernie Ecclestone.
Congratulations!!!

You may well have the cleanest air in Adelaide, but you have the dirtiest drinking water
And *why* is there a picture of a tram in this entry?! There's one tram line in Adelaide!
Congratulations!!!
theMartian Posted Apr 28, 2005
Apparently the lone tram line is to be extended down North Terrace.
The picture was selected by our friendly editors at H2G2. A picture of wine and food or chruches or something might have been more appropriate.
The drinking water is quite tasty if you like flavoured water!
