Great to hear from you!!!
I don't do journals much - I've been pretty busy what with w*rk and all and usually only pop in for a moment or so each day.
I don't even have time for proper ACEing anymore - but I'm hoping to find more time soon.
How's everything with you??

Im fine thanks
Ive been away for a while (3 weeks) in other places so im just trying to get back into the swing of things with an overhaul of my user page (ongoing) and trying to ACE (thoguh most people have been done 3 times over!)

Yep - lots of enthusiastic new ACEs
But it's nice to know that newbies are being well and truly welcomed
Just saying Hi
lw - ck Posted Aug 19, 2002
Yeah, most of the tiem anyway
But ive noticed some things:
As you know most newbies dont stick around for that long (about 1/20 stay for more than a year i reckon) because when they come here they think great a massive community with all this information.
So they search out a guide entry which intrests them (all this before paying attention to their space or maybe even name) and leach onto a conversation and post an statement there. These convos are usually more than 3/4 of a year old and many people would just disregard them when it comes to their conversation list. So the newbie is given the impression that this is very much a dead community and doesnt come back all before activating their personal space and being welcomed by an ACE.
I know this probably wont be able to happen BUT maybe a new user would be forced to activate their personal space BEFORE beign able to browse through H2G2 and engage in conversation. just a thought, your views?

Yeah ... not a bad idea - maybe you should mention all that on the ACE forum. I know that you cant post until you register - maybe we need some sort of "automatic space activator" or something
Just saying Hi
lw - ck Posted Aug 19, 2002
kewl, would you post it for me please?
And what the hell has happened to the "my conversations" window?
CK
Just saying Hi
Feisor - -0- Generix I made it back - sortof ... Posted Aug 20, 2002
Why?? Can't you post it yourself??
Re the "my conversations" window - apparently "they" are having problems with it - someone is looking into it.
How do you like the new skin - I prefer my goo - but like some of the new features. But I am giving it a go - apparently it will soon be the default skin and I feel that I should at least know what the newbies are talking about
Love the smiley buttons - makes it so much easier to do this
Just saying Hi
lw - ck Posted Aug 20, 2002
Yeah i can post it but i think they'd listen to you more since you are known throughout teh h2g2 community.
The new skin has some kewl features but it just looks awful. Put te features on goo and it would be amazing. I dont like teh look of brunel

Thanks for the compliment - you obviously have a higher opinion of my influence than I do
No ... it's your idea - you post it
I agree with you about Brunel - I'm using it at the moment but longing for my goo
Just saying Hi
lw - ck Posted Aug 21, 2002
Im giving it a go now, i like the way it doesnt load teh info on your own space meaning its much quciker to use.
Where shoudl i post it? The *cough cough* or the aces home page here?

I reckon that you should post it in the Forum at Yahoo - you know, "run it up the flagpole and see who salutes"
I just use the MP page - it just shows the conversations - no graphics - loads in no time
