Hi, nuts2you!

When I saw the title, I thought this was another entry denouncing evolution! I didn't expect Darwin, Australia, to provoke quite such a heated denunciation. I'll have another look tomorrow and give you some comments then.

Thanks.

While this article its self does not denounce Charles Darwin, the city of Darwin Australia does. This place is proof positive that the stupid can survive and the weak will continue to breed. In a system as isolated as this place there were bound to be exceptions to the rule. Ironic that it is in a place named after the man.

Dr Hell

Consider renaming the entries title to:

A warning...about Darwin, Australia.

I, too, thought about Evolution first.

Sorry folks. It looks asthough the title I gave the article in this forum has confused alot of people.

This article in no way concerns Charles Darwin or the theory of evolution

The subject heading is actually "A safety Brief for visitors to Darwin Australia"

The heading in this forum was not designed to confuse, it was just a mistake on my part

(...back)

The title of the entry is or has been changed to:

A Briefing to Visitors to Darwin, Australia

Which I think is MUCH better.

I'll post some more comments later.

Post 9

Dr Hell

Consider re-submitting a thread with the correct title. I think like this the thread will attract the wrong readership.

Thanks.

I think this thread should be removed as soon as the other one is here.

If you wait, a scout will probably come and move this thread to the sin bin. Even if you hadn't given this a misleading title, the heading isn't in the correct format, so it will be very easy for the scouts to spot. The new thread is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F48874?thread=151820&skip=0&show=20 for anyone else reading this thread.

Sho - employed again!

My goodness, what a place! I must go there....

I like the way this is written... are you sure there aren't one or two nice things you can say though? Still, I like the style and pace, so good luck to you.

There are, however, quite a few typos/spelling mistakes, but maybe the sub can get them out for you.

Sorry Soh but I spent 2 (long) years looking for something to do. It seems that entertainment for the 4 - 98 years age bracket has been sadly neglected in this city.

As a resident of Darwin, I'm finding it a little hard to judge this article objectively. While superficially correct, I feel sorry for you if that is all you saw.

I suppose I can understand why a 'city-slicker' who is reliant on entertainment being provided for them didn't get any further than the bars on Mitchell Street.

Darwin, like many places in the tropics, is where Mother Nature shows her extremes. Watching things go green overnight as the first rains hit after the dry is magical. Places like Kakadu National Park and the Katherine Gorge are world-renowned natural heritage areas for good reason.

Yes we have crocodiles and stingers (box jelly fish), and no we don't swim at our beaches. But the vast majority of tourist accommodation, even camping grounds, will have at least one pool and virtually every indoor venue is air-conditioned.

If you were aiming to produce a humourous piece, I don't think you are quite there yet. However, 'instructive, informative and factual' (to quote from the writing guidelines) it aint!
