I just tried this, and when I went to delete the cookies I see that the survey cookie is there again despite my having deleted it yesterday. So I delete it again, log out, login, go to the front page but no survey. Only when I then check I see the survey cookie is there again.

I guess I'm not one of the chosen smiley - wah

The what technology do you use questions are interesting. I use hardly any of the options. So does that mean I'm a neoluddite, or does that mean they are after people who are at the forefront of new technology use? Meaning, are those options quite common (as in many people use them) in the UK now?

So if you're not one of the first 7, then you obviously don't know your work status smiley - erm

Hooray, it worked! I just kept deleting the cookies, and I finally got it! I love filling out surveys; it's ever so much fun. And I'm sure the BBC was thrilled to get such an enthusiastic review as mine.

Thanks, Ottox,

I wonder what answers you'd given to provoke the attempt to isolate the Republic of Ireland from the rest of Europe.

I could have understood if the specific country had been Belgium, man ... but Ireland?

Gnomon - time to move on

There's a good reason for listing the Republic of Ireland separately from the rest of Europe. We're the only English-speaking nation in Europe outside of the UK. (Well, other than the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands).

I got one months ago, I remember one question where it asked a or b, well my answer was c, and it gave no way of indicating anything other than the extremely small choice it had, so I shut it down, without answering the rest.

Post 93

Just seen Ottoxs questions, this is a different survey to the one I saw. Still couldn't answer it though, there is no option for voluntary work. Also what do you do if you spend hours on writing websites, are not paid for it, but its still work. Again I guess voluntary work would do, if it was an option.

Sorrel, I was thinking that too. Plus solo parents, many people with disability, unpaid caregivers etc .

I was trying to figure out what information they wanted from that question - or what useful information they would get from the answers. Hard to tell really.

Hi Kea, I suppose as it is work, the next best answer would be part time employment then?

Sorrel, that might work if they hadn't used the word 'paid'. Obviously they aren't up with the fact that alot of work is done by unpaid workers.

My guess is that they want an impression of what sort of people use the BBC website. Hence all the random questions. They want to know how you make your living, lest that influence whether or not you're hanging around the BBC site. Hey, I just think it's cool. And it's got h2g2.smiley - smiley
