Anothe rplace toa dd to the "places I've watched football" list. The trip to watch the Newcastle and Everton reserve teams playing in a rugby ground didn't get off to the best of starts when I got of the metro, thinking I was in Bank Foot, wandered around for a bit, seeing signs for Fawdon PArk Centre and Fawdon garage, and then went into the Fawdon Arms to discover I was (believe it or not) in Fawdon. The regulkars told me to get back on the metro for two more stops, and when I got off, to go downhill until i gopt to the twin farms pub, then turn right,a nd then take the first left and follow the road round to the ground.
So i did that, and making my way to the gate to pay my £3 entrance fee, an old man, fully aware I was wearing an Everton shirt, offered to get me in on his spare season ticket so I didn't have to arse about with small change. So he did, and I then spent the match discussing the states of our respective clubs with a 75-year-old Geordie called Jack.
Oh, and Everton lost 1-0 to newcastle in quite a good game, Richard Wright, Nick Chadwick and Anthony Gerrard were in excellent form for us, and Shola Ameobi was always dangerous for them, the goal was scored by peter Ramage on the rebound when Peter Clarke failed to clear the ball. Oh and I liked what I saw of Everton's Victor Anichebe for the last 18 minutes- fast, busy and dangerous, and the 16-year-old mifielder Bjarni Vidarsson amde some intelligent runs. Unfortunately the midfielders didn't do a very good job of supporting Chadwick, the sole striker for most of the game, so whenever he won his headers against Newcastle defenders (which was most of the time), there was no-one there to get onto the loose ball- the wingers also lacked penetrationw ith their crosses, even if their runs were classy. Bit like Danny Cadamareri really.

*the wingers also lacked penetration with their crosses*
No,no, no! Use the wooden stakes for penetration, the crosses are just for scaring them away!
