Surely the best thing to do would be to all become vegetarian... this would mean we would produce 3 times as much food (farming meat is very inefficient). What do YOU think?

Possibly, but we'd also produce about 3 times as much methane thus contributing to global warming and the eventual demise of all species...
Hydroponics

That's a load of dingo's kidneys.
That said, One of the best things to do would be hydroponics. No soil to deal with, takes up less space, and less water. Unfortunantly, any human with power in this world seems to focus on politics in one way or the other and doesn't really care about things like this.
Hence no 22nd century as we know it. Mark my words...

Of course you're right....
As a fellow mac user, though, I trust you understand that there are certain intangeables that are worth an increased cost or inefficiency.
From the perspective of my father, a nice roast is fulfilling in this way. He's doing well post cardiac bypass also.
