I'd thought that escrow started a week ago yesterday. I found out over the weekend that the selling agent had used snail mail to get the seller's signature, and we were still waiting to receive the paperwork. OK, fine, this week, then.

I IM'd my agent yesterday afternoon to ask if the contract had arrived yet. She told me that, while papers had arrived, they were the counters and addendums, *not* the contract. I received a further email this morning that the selling agent hadn't had the seller sign the contract, just those counters and addendums, so we're still waiting. Oh, and we learned this past week that someone else has expressed interest, and can pay more for the down payment. So, with no signed contract, everything could still fall through.

Amy, I have fingers crossed for you. If there was an intentional delay so they could negotiate with someone else, is there any way to file a complaint about unethical business practices? With th AG perhaps?

If I don't hear anything in a few days, I'll ask F if she thinks the delay is deliberate, and what needs to be done. From what I remember, though, neither party signed anything to make this exclusive, so, theoretically, they can still entertain offers and we can view other properties and make offers. The annoying part is that this particular property has been on-and-off the market for 5 years, and just now someone else is looking *headdesk*
