h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I'll be keeping the info in this one journal, instead of starting a separate account this time. Comments are fine, but please not a lot of topic drift on this one--I may want to print this out at some future time, like I am PaperBaby's journals for my current midwife (she thought that it was great that I had everything online, and I'll be printing my article about the birth, as well)

I'll actually put the first appointment info in its own post, so I can date the subject header...

Pregnancy is at 13 weeks, 4 days,

Weight-- 186 lbs. (Start weight was 189 lbs.)

Blood pressure-- 138/74

Heard the baby's rate 140 beats per minute.

Ultrasound on 8/21.

Next OB appointment on 9/16 (the day after this appointment was originally going to be before it got moved up)

Well, I drank lots of water, found speedbumps on the way to the hospital (where the ultrasound is) and learned that Notepad is a singleton

Paul, there were speedbumps in the hospital parking lot, and, for an OB ultrasound, you need to have a full bladder, to push the uterus up to where it's "visible".

At least it wasn't raining when you got there--or was it?

No, thank goodness!

As Mae West said, goodness had nothing to do with it, though maybe that's just in California. Except that you actually *are* in California. Never mind!

Pregnancy is at 17 weeks.

Weight-- 188 lbs.

Blood pressure-- 130/59 (surprised me--I thought it was going to be a bit high because I'd been running around getting some rather important paperwork taken care of right before the appointment.)

Heard the baby's rate-- 140 beats per minute.

This was the other long appointment--this one due to a talk with a nutritionist. I'm doing better than I'd thought--only improvement needed (as compared to the last 24 hours) is to eat 1 more serving each of whole grains and of fruit/veggies

Gave one more vial of blood, for Expanded AFP screening, which screens for some birth defects. A positive would lead to further testing--either a high resolution ultrasound or an amniocentesis, if I so choose.

Next appointment is October 13. Mid-term ultrasound (the one that, if Notepad cooperates, will tell us which pronoun to use) will be scheduled for the week following that.

But couldn't the twin be a devious sort who gets in the right position to avoid detection?
