Hello and welcome to h2g2.
My name's Ardzil and I'm an ACE (assistant community editor).ACEs are ordinary researchers who have volunteered to meet and greet new researchers.
It's easy to feel a bit lost on a site as big as h2g2, so if you need any help or advice just click on the reply button down below, or click on my name up at the top and leave a message on my page.
In the meantime click on

where I've put together some links you might find useful.
Have fun
Ardzil
P.S. A PET with hangover remedies will make you a lot of friends round here.

Hello Ardzil,
I guess one of my questions has a lot to do with what is typically discussed here on BBC's h2g2. Is it just a people commenting about their favorite pet's sleeping habits, or dicussions on new and creative ways to transplant the common geranium? Or are people actually writing about experiences and things that they have experienced in the universe, galaxy, solar system, planet, city, town, village or neighborhood?
Also I am wondering how the signal to noise ratio is managed. How is content agregated into a usefull, cross-linked mass of, well, crosslinked usefullness.

Go to the front page
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/
Then ,depending on which skin you're using, you will see either a light green box on the left, or a black box on the right with the heading "the guide". At the bottom of this box it says "infinite improbability drive", clicking on this takes you to random edited guide entries. This should give you some idea of the things people write entries about.
In general conversations you can find people talking about most things, although pets sleeping habits and geranium transplantation must have passed me by.
