welcome ceruleanshipper! in an almost unheard-of frenzy of activity, i have managed to get you on the page on the same day you posted!
are you from chicago, or just attending school there? i hope the hyde park neighborhood up there is better than the hyde park neighborhood in st louis!
being familiar with chicago, you may be interested in attending our meetup there this spring. we're really looking forward to it and hope to see lots of people there! we're talking about who will be coming and what to do when we get there in the conversation here: F72532?thread=235872
again, welcome to the gang!

A bit of both, actually--my mother's from Chicago, so for most of the summers of my life I've spent some time up here... I'm currently at the U of C (nullus schola provincalis) and have no idea what I'm going to concentrate in. I have no idea what the Hyde Park in STL is like, but inferring from your statement I'd have to say that yes, Chicago's Hyde Park is better than the one in STL. But cross Cottage Grove Ave. into Washington Park, that's a whole other story !
Hey, should we start a petition for a pizza smiley?

pizza smiley would be good... would probably go well with smiley

Goodday,
The name is Raukodraug. I'm from the illustrious city of St. Louis in the slightly better than average state of Missouri.
I actually have one unedited guide entry about the area at A956603 entitled the St. Louis Radio Guide.
Nice to actually find some other people from the area on H2G2.

hello! how fantastic to find a fellow st louisan here
most st louisan's i've come across onsite have long since gone, so it's good to see a neighbor.
the radio guide is rather extensive, isn't it. i guess when you only listen to 2 or 3 stations you don't realize how many of them there actually are
i'm happy to add you to our page, i should be updating it sometime in the next few days. in the meantime, if you're interested, we've been planning a get-together in chicago for next month. you can see our discussion at F72532?thread=235872
if you don't mind my asking, what part of st louis are you in?

I live down near Carondelet Park and work at Saint Louis University.
Sadly I won't be able to make it up to Chicago in May. I have to work that weekend. Blast it.

But man, how lively it is now
So, time to say something with some content, don't you think? Well, here goes: I am no longer anywhere "central" or even anywhere near the States. I am back in my German home of Berlin.
Now, how is that for information?
I do miss the US, however, and I do miss the Central States.

hi yelbakk! long time no hear!
i figured you were back in germany, now that you've confirmed it i've amended your status
come back for a visit any time!
i've spent the day updating the page, the intro now mentions a st louis meet up if anyone's interested. i've also added loads of new entries - i really should do that more often, then it wouldn't be so time consuming. (either that or jodan needs to take a break, i'm sure half of what i added today was his )
how is everyone weathering the winter?
i hear punxsutawney phil saw his shadow today. shame he doesn't move here, he'd have a hard time finding anyone's shadow in the rain

The weather... ha! Don't you even mention the weather! It is so warm here (considering it's Feb), girls might even start wearing skirts again. Wish they would

Don't have much time to spend around H2G2 anymore, but I was happy to see people talking around here again.
Oh, and Yelbakk, just wanted to let you know that I definatately envy you and your weather. if you find a way to smuggle some to the midwest let me know. I'm already tired of waiting for spring.

Yelbakk Posted Feb 3, 2004
Well, last time I entered the States, they asked me whether I have been a member of a Communist organization, whether I was a terrorist, whether I was bringing meat, seeds, or any opened items of food into the country, but they never asked me whether I had any nice weather on me, or whether I was planning to meddle with the weather. So I guess it is safe to assume that I can legally bring nice weather into the States. So that should not be a problem. Now all you have to do is buy me a ticket, and then I will see what I can do so you will have nicer days

Wow! Real live people from the mid-west! I'm not a native Missourian but I've been here for nearly 4 years, consumed more than my fair share of Ted Drewes, and have embraced baseball so fully I actually got up early (something my job has never inspired me to do) to buy tickets for opening day the second they went on sale. I haven't contributed anything to the guide so do not merit any association with the word 'researcher', I just wanted to say "Hi" to the locals....
And a comment on the previous post - the last time I entered the US I was also asked if I had brought any snails which caught me by surprise. I'm sure I'd remember if snails had been mentioned any previous times through customs. So just make sure no snails hitch a ride with the nice weather and you shouldn't have any problems....

I spy a fellow St Louisan
Welcome to the gang! I'll get you on the page in short order
Where did you live before Missouri?

orchidgirl Posted Mar 29, 2004
It was the Ted Drewes that gave it away right?
England---> Scotland--->St Louis.
Makes perfect sense really......
