Canada mayflowers are the ultimate in simplicity. In the plant's early years, it usually has only one leaf. As it gets older, it may have two or more leaves, plus dainty little white blossoms on a raised stalk.

A humble, modest plant that will grow in dark, moist places where not much else will flourish. It seems to do well around the roots of spruce and pine trees, but I've also see them growing in the lawn of the cemetery where my family is buried.
Anyway, I planted some in five different places, and the plants are coming up in four of those places. I would call that a success.

Long one of my favorite wildflowers.
Unfortunately cannot take the local desert climate except above 4000 feet in well watered moderately shaded locations.

I don't think Canada Mayflowers contain any Pilgrims, though.
