I've just been wandering through the h2g2 post and also read your page. I would not usually point out any slight inaccuracies but as you claim to be such a literary expert, whom nobody could beat in an agrument, how could I resist?
Trainspotting, initially a book by Irvine Welsh and then later a film is in a fact based in Scotland- in a suburb of Glasgow to be precise. The 'Cockneys' are a sector of the work class based in East London who developed their own rhyming slang. Trainspotting is most definitely not Cockney.
