Unless you are extremely fit my advice is wait for the lift. The spiral stairs almost killed me. They go on forever. I didn't count them.. and I don't plan to neither.
Two S Northern line stations
Baldrick Posted May 28, 2000
They aren't for the easily-scared because of the fact that they are one-platform stations, whose names I can't remember. The only reason Angel looks as good as it does is because it used to be like that but then there was a fear of people actually falling off the platform.
Oh yeah, there should be a sign at Russ Sq. saying there are so-and-so stairs in the flight - it is because of these signs I know there are 99 steps in Caledonian Road
And finally......please if you want to get to, say, Walthamstow from oh I dunno......Old Street then don't fall into the trap of changing at Euston because it's much harder to change lines at Euston(very easy to get lost)and also going north on the Victoria line you have to go BACK to King's Cross to get where you're going
East London line

I like New Cross Gate station. It has a wonderful Baroque feel to it - that is, nobody has done any repairs since 1750.
East London line

The most pointless line on the Underground. It only exists so that LU can show that there are two lines that meet their criteria for trains on time.

I have read somewhere that the sandwich shop on the southern (westbound) platform at Sloane Square (District & Circle) used to be a pub. Must have been very snug - it's tiny ...

Northern Line nightmare....
It bugs the hell out of me for 2 reasons
Every train city bound is full in the morning. Quicker to go south in the morning a few stops, to get on and get a seat.
One escalator is out of service....perminently. Of course there is signs up to appologise and advise that the escalator work is on schedule....... and that it will be fixed by the end of the year...Hell that sign was put up 8 months ago. And I still havent seen anyone working on it. Maintanance must work slower than the trains....

No ticket barriers. Half the time no man in the ticket office either. Very irregular service. They announce with some pride the fact that a train has managed to leave Hammersmith (if you ever managed to find the Hammersmith and City Line Station there!) and then list how long it will take to every station to Royal Oak. Depressing, cold and boring.
