This looks really interesting at a first quick reading. I have to go out now unfortunately, but I'll have another read later today or tomorrow and if I can see any scope for improvement that nobody else has spotted by then, I'll add another comment. Good work.

Now I'm worrying that my first posting was too dull:
Roll up, roll up! A colourful article mentioning hallucinogenic drugs! smiley - tongueout

Wow! Great entry! smiley - smiley

I almost wish I was synaesthetic myself, reading that... But for me, words is words, sounds is sounds and credit card numbers are not immediately redolent of oral stone sensations. smiley - winkeye

Hello,

This entry is fascinating and nicely written to boot. I think it should have no problems making it into the Edited Guide, and I have nothing really to quibble about. smiley - smiley

Hiya!

I've read a bit about synaesthesia before, and it's a fascinating subject and I think this is a great overview.

My only really minor niggle is that you use "blindfold subjects" and my irritating in-built grammar checker thinks it should be "blindfolded subjects"

Apart from one minor typo, "spontaneously", this article is perfect.

Sorry to have hit and run like that this afternoon. I could see this was a fascinating article but I just didn't have time to read it properly. It's really good!

There is just one little bit that's confusing. In the third paragraph you say "As many as one in 2000 people experience natural synaesthesia ..." then a couple of sentences later you say "... around one in 500 associate colours with letters ...". That seems contradictory and a bit of clarification would help.

Apart from that tiny little thing though, brilliant! smiley - smiley

Yes, indeed useful! I always wondered how to the term 'wet fart' was to be interpreted smiley - laugh

Now seriously, that's the secret behind those memory wizards who can remember 1000s of digits after studying them for some 10 minutes. They associate the digits with persons and objects and construct some weird story(!) in their minds, which is more easily remembered than a sequence like 7-3-4-9-5-...

D'oh! The secret's out! Though I'm sure that many - like me - don't realise on a conscious level just *how* they are doing it...

I'd rate this entry 9.3 out of 10 (or should I say Orangey-turquoise out of partially-chewed toffee?).
The scouts should pick this one up and give it a rousing 'hussah!'. I've linked it on my page cus its so interesting. Bon chance.
