A Conversation for Talking Point: The Ethics of Being Frozen

Haven't we got enough people filling up the planet with out keeping others in storage?
Buck Rogers did alright out of the cryogenic thing, but he had that foxy Wilma Deering to help him warm up in the 25th century. He was an unplanned freezer case anyway.
I'd reckon that, in reality, most people could expect a rather more frosty reception in the future. Look at Tom Hanks in Castaway - he'd only been gone a few years and his girlfirend had moved on, got married and had a kid. Do we really want faces from the past popping up again with their out-dated opinions and claims on this and that.
For many years there's been a rumour that Walt Disney is 'on ice' somewhere, awaiting a cure for something nasty (lung cancer, I think). What the hell is he going to do if we thaw and cure him? What does he know about cartoons now . . . he'll see Toy Story 2 or Shrek and have a heart attack on the spot.
No. It's not a sensible idea really, is it? If you really want a legacy - so something useful, brave or downright awful and be remembered for it. Personally, I shall just write an salacious autobiography and leave all my money to the local cats home instead.

Actually, I was talking to a friend today and he reckoned that it was only Walt Disney's head that was frozen. This led us on to talking about the cartoon 'Futurama' - they've got preserved heads wandering about.
I saw an episode with Richard Nixon's head attempting to become President of Earth . . . so you can see it's dangerous old business.
It's not as funny as 'The Simpsons' though, even with a character called 'Bender'.

hehe, sounds funny! just a thought: if they've just frozen his head, and he has lung cancer...... then havn't they just solved the problem?

It´s supposed to be under the Pirates Island in the park. But in actuality he´s been cremated and is lying in a cemetery somewhere.
