there are certain species of fish living in the arctic circle that have a kind of natural anti freeze in their blood. This means that they get the benefit of the metabolic slowdown provided by the low temparature, but don't get all the cells burst by the expansion of the ice. if some genetic patch, or some non toxic injection could provide this protection to humans...
this would be a shorter term cryogenic protection though i imagine, as metabolic processes do continue, they just slow down. in the fish it is just to ensure that they survive the winter.

in a mildly interesting aside, the first fish frozen for consumption in freezers tasted bad because of the rate at which they were frozen-all their cells birst and they went a bit off b4 they froze! smiley - wah
