Mr. Cogito

Hello,

No problem. I'm just sorry for shouting in the serene locale of the zen garden.

Down to business. What do the editors want to see in my article so the won't compleatly re-write it? Have i left anything out? Soil content and fertalizer brands were, to me, too boring to include...

Oh wow! Nice going. That was pretty quick George. I knew the scouts would recognise a great entry when they saw it! I'd be surprised if the eds changed very much. If you do want to change anything though, you should do it fairly soon because even though it may not be edited straight away, a copy of it will probably be sent to its editor very shortly.

Congratulations smiley - hug

But what should I change? Should I request a new Bonsai graphic from the Art Department? Did I leave anything Important out? So many bonsai questions, so little (snicker at pun) time...

I should leave it as it is George. The fact that a scout has recommended it means that they're pretty happy as it is. I think you can change anything you don't like about the edited version before it appears on the front page.

Congratulations again smiley - smiley

Luckily for all of us, Jake, I had already recommended this one! And it's been approved! Congrats! Congrats! This entry has been approved for editing and acceptance into the edited guide. It will now have the honor of being edited by a sub-editor and then by an italic, and will then have the amazing honor of being smacked on the front page!

woo hoo!

As far as making changes goes --

The way it works is that a copy of entry as it is *right now* will be sent to a sub-editor. They will make any changes they think necessary, and then it will go on to an italic who will also make changes. Usually, with an article as well organized as this, the changes are purely stylistic, grammatical, etc. While the article never goes back to the original author for approval, the author can certainly take a look at it after it's been edited (once the article says "pending" on your homepage, it's been edited) and then let the italics know if there are any major problems.

If there's additional info you want the sub-editor to add to the entry, the best thing is to actually start a forum to that effect at the bottom of the entry -- us subs have been trained to look there before digging in.

The only thing I can see is a 'reverse-link', if you will, to and from the edited page on the Baobob and from the 'Guide to being Pretentious', because both turn up in a search for 'Bonsai'

Spring is the season for repotting your bonsai. Repotting dosen't mean you have to buy a new pot, it simple means cutting back the roots and changing the dirt. This should be done every year until your tree is about ten years old depending on the species.

What happens when the tree is 10 years old? Does it stop trying to get bigger then, or do you just give it a break from root trimming for a while and then start again later?

No, it means that after ten years of Bonsai training, your bonsai learns not to grow long, twisty roots and only needs to be repotted every five years. The oldest bonsai I've ever seen is a 100 years old magnollia.

I'm afraid I haven't anything to report at the moment.
Sorry for bothering you.
