I only heard about 20 minutes ago; I was devastated. My thoughts go out to Douglas' family and friends. The world is a lesser place without him.

Shocked and devastated.
How sad that someone who cared so much about the future will not be with us to share it.
Love and condolences to his family and friends.

I was shocked to hear this sad loss to the world.
DNA added something strange and funny to the world, a gift that has kept on giving.
It is sad he has not seen the film he has worked so hard for, and the future he has helped shape in his own way.
I don't really know what is the right thing to say, but goodbye Douglas, thank you, and we will miss you.

I feel very sad. Douglas Adams's work entertained, delighted, interested and influenced me in so many ways.
His creations will always be with me - I love what he did, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy will forever remain deep in my soul.
We have lost a star.

Silly Willy Posted May 12, 2001
Friday 11 May, 2001 was a sad day in my life. Douglas Adams was one of the best things to happen, his writings and this site have kept me alive. I do not know how I will keep going without him.
