I had a standing bet with an old Peace Corps buddy that if I purchased and drank one of the many tropical juices sold in street stalls here in South America, no doubt made with untreated water loaded with bugs, he'd buy me a haba of cervezas, somehow the the thought of a bout of "Atahualpa's Revenge" changed my mind!

I actually had, in my first version of this arcicle, before it was edited, a little piece in there about a drunken dare of drinking the contaminated water.
And, like you have said, I have seen dares as such. I doubt the agony was worth the 29 dollars or the pride! :o
So it is really a good thing that you did change your mind.

Yeah, I agree, although it seems that whatever the precautions I take, I inevitably get sick with amoebas or worse, tough to mantain high standards of sanitation when your out in the outback!
