I've copied and pasted the following message at the suggestion of Androyd ACE, from http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F63273?thread=101817&post=851740 where I originally posted it a couple of days ago: I posted a message to Metal Chicken last evening about foot and mouth disease. We both live in rural areas and it's a big issue to us. It was a completely inoffensive message. Most of the information in it came straight from BBC News programmes so if it did contain inaccuracies, the BBC is to blame. I didn't think the moderators would ever even notice me. I couldn't imagine that anything I would say would ever require moderation. What on earth is going on? Metal Chicken and I would be very interested to find out. Sal PS There are actually 2 message missing now. They're pending decisions but their removal has halted the conversations they were plucked from and those conversations may or may not restart. I would very much like to know why - even if they are eventually reinstated. Their urls are: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F24706?thread=101004&post=849580#p849580 and http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F47666?thread=96855&post=850767#p850767

Hi Sal - these were referred over to me because your were quoting a government minister and I think the moderators got a bit jumpy about this.
But I took the decision that it was fine and I passed both postings.

Thanks Abi. I think people are far more comfortable with some sense of order and the knowledge that everything that happens, happens for a rational reason (even though that often isn't the case in real life). I only quoted a government minister in the first post. I didn't mention any individual or quote anyone in the second post. Sorry to be a pain and push the matter but I'd be really interested to know why that message was snatched.
Hope you're enjoying the League of Gentlemen - even as I sit here nagging you
Sal

Now then, now then, what's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here! This is a LOCAL forum for LOCAL people...
Hope you enjoyed the show Abi. I'm also glad you responded to this query, it's nice to know there IS a reason even if I might not agree with the stated concern. It's a shame the 'referred' message is so bland and uninformative - at this stage everyone's still a little jumpy about how the new rules work and it's very easy to take offence when postings go missing. Good to know you're there making sense of it all on our behalf.

Yes one of the things that is being discussed is how we can make the messages a little less formal.

Hi there Abi
Where are all our old conversations? Is it a case that they are ALL being read through & moderated? Does that mean they will all, most of them, be returned to us? There's alot of valuable info amongst it all, together with bits of people's lives - a bit like a diary, shame to lose it!!
Spring has arrived - whooopee!

They are all coming back Shirps, but slowly. Jim Lynn reckons there were around 35,000 journal entries alone and as such it will take a little time to check them all. Bear with us!

What kind of bear have you got - brown, white, snuggly or ferocious?
Thanks & I reckon you lot will deserve your own medals after ploughing through all our ramblings!!
