Ahh . . . it's not like Gnomon to show such vindictiveness as it seemed with that part missing.
"Adapted to" has unfortunate connotations (they adapted to the predators doing new things?) -- could you just say "they adapted, first becoming faster runners, then climbing trees"?

Text currently reads "Anoles in the Bahamas were observed after the deliberate introduction of curly-tailed lizards and were found to become better adapted firstly to running fast, then at climbing trees."
I think that should be OK, but I can attempt further disambiguisation (unobfuscationism).

Sorry to pick at it, but this returns to what I first found bothersome: "adapting to" -- to me that suggests something *in the environment* to which an organism adapts.

Hi Recumbentman,
Sorry, your reply slipped past me for a while. Now reads:
"Anoles in the Bahamas were observed after the deliberate introduction of curly-tailed lizards. The introduction of this new predator was followed by the anoles firstly becoming faster runners, then better climbers. This is regarded as being an example of natural selection in action."
I'm trying to avoid using the word 'caused', as that would be a deduction not an observation.

Still looks fine to me . . . small niggle in the "Conclusion":
"It is clear that, at least with regards to the last few years, the weight of scientific evidence has been overwhelmingly - indeed virtually exclusively - in favour of evolution."
Something awkward about "with regards to" -- isn't that "with best wishes"? I'd omit it and say:
"It is clear that the weight of scientific evidence is overwhelmingly in favour of evolution."

Hi Recumbentman,
You're right, that was a hugely clunky sentence. Don't know what I was thinking when I wrote it.
Have changed it to read "It is clear that over this period the weight of scientific evidence has been overwhelmingly in favour of evolution."

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
