Totally new here. Question about errors..

Hi, and this is a really interesting site. But the second entry I looked at had a common error in it. How do I politely suggest a correction?
Many thanks (I did read the FAQ but I'm afraid I couldn't understand who to tell and how to reference it)

PS, is there a search function for the forums? I'm sure this Q will have been asked before...

Hi bobgravy,

You can let us know about any mistakes right here. Just tell us the number of the entry itself (it starts with an A, and can be found at the top of an entry, or at the end of its URL - A123456, for example).

The best thing about h2g2 is it's a living, expanding guide, so we can always add or correct something if it's been drawn to our attention.

So, fire away, what seems to be the problem? smiley - smiley

Thanks for the reply.smiley - smiley Here's the details:
A520831 theremin.
The Beachboys recording of 'Good Vibrations' did not use a theremin, but an instrument confusingly and misleadingly known originally as an electro-theremin, later changed to the Tannerin after its inventor Paul Tanner. This is capable of creating theremin like sounds but works on a very different principle, more like the Ondes Martenot. This kind of instrument is very much easier to play than a real theremin and has a wonderful sound of it's own, but it is not a Theremin. Tanner, who himself played on the Beachboys recording is on record as himself being somewhat embarrased by the confusion. Very few, if any, people would have the skill to play such a controlled and tuneful melody with perfect intonation on a Theremin.

Note; I've just noticed that there is a comment to this effect in the forum already, but the article still contains the error.

Thanks for that, bobgravy. We've added that explanation and rewritten a section of it. We've also added you as a credited researcher smiley - smiley
