I'm not sure that the rolling r is universal.
I don't mine, and I had a friend who spoke a bit like Jonathan Ross who would have loved the ability!
You make it sound a bit like the undertaker character in Dad's Army - you know, the Scot's bloke. Brummie has nothing like his rolling r!
