Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~

I am retiring from the pirating, pillaging, pilfering and plundering business - therefore also changing my nom de guerre. Know me henceforth as Pierre de la Mer smiley - smiley

When you have hoarded more gold than you can possibly spend and the arthritis sets in it's time to retire, I think smiley - yawn

Plus some pirates are giving the rest of us a bad name smiley - erm

PS: I'm keeping my trademark, though. At least for a while. So ya'll can still recognize me smiley - winkeye

I am flattered that Pierce the Pirate would take, as his new name, the name of a character from Spotlight 71 on Crepuscular Meadows:

"In 1944, at the tender age of five, Pierre Delamer was chosen to carry messages for La Resistance. Not that he volunteered. His father arranged for him to bring a lunchbox to his older brother Jacques (code name Frere Jacques) at school every day. An important resistance message would be in each lunchbox, and Jacques would see to it that Brother Bourcin (who taught at he school) would get it."

Unless this is just a coincidence, which it might be.

There are old pirates and bold pirates, but no old, bold pirates.

I think it's okay for a pirate to start drawing from the IRA or chest of gold buried long ago on some obscure smiley - island and rest from the travails of old age. You've earned it.

But you could fancy yourself as an ancient mariner. That's something respectable that can be a good role model for the youngsters. smiley - smiley

Baron Grim

The brother and business partner of famed pirate of the Gulf of Mexico who had bases of operations in New Orleans and Galveston, Jean Lafitte, was named Pierre. He handled much of the smuggling operations.

That reminds me of a story form my archives:

I hadn't felt like myself for a long time.

People asked, "If you aren't you, who are you?"

One day I was in a terrible car accident. I was comatose
for weeks. When I woke up, I said, "I'm still not me."
