Tinkerbell *tumbleweed*

I have finally found something which has annoyed me enough to create an official rant; ITV's Formula 1 coverage or rather that should be ITV's lack of Formula 1 coverage.

How they can possibly justify not showing such a vital race in order to broadcast 'Cilla`s Moment Of Truth' is beyond me. Up until this I have always felt quite pleased with ITV's coverage and even coped with the adverts and football coverage but now I am unable to even pretend to be happy with them...In fact if I were on Big Brother I would definitely be showing my unhappy face.

I have now resorted to watching a tiny weeny picture via the internet and if I had more will power I would take a stand and refuse to watch ITV's repeat...sadly I haven't but if anyone wants to take a stand for me please feel freesmiley - smiley

Hmm... I know it's a bit late, but I always think an unanswered journal entry looks a bit forlorn - certainly annoys me when mine get ignored. smiley - smiley Not that I like to be the centre of attention or anything.

Anyway, I've felt that ITV's F1 coverage has been gradually going downhill, even before they had the gall not to show it live on any channel that most people were likely to have. (Hell, we have Sky Digital in my house and we don't get ITV2!) Actually I later found out that my hotel had ITV2 in the bar, and I missed my opportunity to watch it live. D'Oh!

But I think they've been pusing it further and further with the advert breaks. (Although occasionally I get the impression they've backed off due to complaints, because sometimes it gets better for a couple of weeks. Although that could just be fluctuating demand for adverts.)

I remember the first race of the first season ITV covered - I was watching it with some friends, and when the first break happened, we just looked at each other with a "this isn't going to work at all" expression on our faces. Turned out not to be as bad as all that, but I still don't like it...

Drathlor - Dark Elf

Have to agree with you, the coverage on ITV has been fantastic if you fancy bying a ford mondeo or caring for your hands with Fairy washing up lotion.
Whats Happened???
Adverts are becoming a virus infecting every programme known to mankind, you would have thought they could have a three hour break from breaks. It is a real shame that someone somewhere is planning on how many advert breaks he can fit in during the Formula 1 grand prix coverage.

Why dont they just call it Formula ? instead and we can all have a go at guessing who will lap who.

At least they havent put on a break as the race leader/s come to the finnish line, or have I spoken to soon? Sorry!

Hiya!

Do you have sun tan?

Hmmm...Did you see the yard of bricks?

*waves back to Tinkerbell*
Wotcha!
*looks shifty*
I was working all week in LA, and it snowed in Indianapolis, so not really...
*goes out of focus to confuse Tinkerbell*
I certainly did. Actually now it looks like only about 2 feet of bricks rather than a full yard. Well, 2 feet long, although probably a couple of hundred feet wide - the only bit where you can still see the bricks is the finish line, but that not only runs the whole width of the track, it also disappears off into the garage area. They assure me that all the bricks are still there under the tarmac though.
*wonders whether to tell her he had a good time, or just assume that she'll assume he did*

*waves her lightsaber back again in the hopes if insiting jealously*
HELLO!!!
*looks sad*
Snow?
*shakes her head quickly to keep up with the changing focus*
You have!
*sulks*
Well...hummph...it's only...
*counts carefully*
gaaaaaaaaaa 14 days til my interview...
*thinks*
Is today Tuesday or Wednesday?
*looks smug*
So I'll get to see the yard of bricks within Cambridge college scary interview room so smiley - nahnah
*hope's he doesn't notice thats not quite as desirable as seeing the Indy track*
Actually I have to admit that I have no idea how long a yard is and only vaguely know the length of a foot so I'd have been none the wiser smiley - smiley
*wonders whether to ask him to tell her whether he had a good time or just assume that he'd assume that she'd assume he did*

How are you?
*looks concerned at T's sadness, and not a little perplexed about how a shifty look could inspire such a reaction*
Have what?
*wonders which bit is supposed to match which, now that there are different numbers of sections in the two messages*
14 days? (Presumably 13 now.) I'll be in Germany that day... Curses! Thought I might get a chance to show off the Elise.
*wonders vaguely what the look of intense concentration is for smiley - winkeye*
Today is Wednesday, so they tell me.
*looks worried*
I've never seen an interview room with a brick floor before!
*thinks that going round an oval circuit in a bus isn't actually the most gripping activity in the world, although the motor museum was moderately interesting*
A yard is 3 feet long. More or less the same as a metre. Actually a bit less than a metre - I'm 2 yards tall, but only something like 1.83m tall. So presumably a yard is about 92cm.
*wonders what the chances are of constructing a grammatically correct response are and then gives up smiley - smiley*
I had a nice time by the way.
*there, that should do it*

Masochist Boy

Just to say I'm not a Formula 1 fan as such, but the idea of replacing ANYTHING with "Cilla's Moment of Truth" - something with as much artistic and sporting merit as your average breeze-block - appals me all together.

Well if I'd have known you all loved them so dearly, I wouldn't have said it. I retract that statement.

How about "as much artistic and sporting merit as your average Turner Prize winner".

Well, so long as it isn't a Turner Prize winning exhibit involving breeze blocks, that's fine. smiley - smiley

Well it could have been the too much curry smiley but I already found that with the laughing one...

Why is everyone having parties so early this year? They're not til next week... next week is party week.... this week is panic over having done nothing in preparation for Christmas week...

ITV's Formula 1

Post 20

IanG

Is it just me or is smiley - yuk the 'constipated' smiley?

This is pretty normal for office xmas parties isn't it? They're usually early because there are only so many places to have them, and unless you book very early, you can't get them much closer to xmas. And besides, next weekend *is* Christmas, and lots of people probably wouldn't be able to make parties next weekend - I know a few people who are heading off to their families early.

Having a 'party week' doesn't do much for your productivity at work. Sadly the opportunities to do that kind of thing tend to diminish after leaving college. smiley - blue
