There is a method of reaching Alpha centuri much quiker than you specify !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fundamental theory was been discovered years ago by Sir Isacc Newton.
Let me explain......The use of gravity would be able to bring the system to you rather than you having to travel to it e.g.
The best method would be to create a mass core of gravity (Like a 'dead' star.
Activated using an electron field would (in theory) be able to fold the fabric of space like a peace of paper. So instead of having to 'travel across to the other side of the paper, the corners of the paper will fold to become closer to you'.
I hope you dont want to make astrophysics your career (you seem to know very little!)

If we could achieve the peace of paper, would there be any need to travel?

I think you need to tell us about your pedantic qualifications. I mean are you really as grand as you make out? By that I mean 'making out' of the non-sexual chest-puffing variety. And, by 'as' I do not mean the 'at the same time as' but the normal 'as'.
It's a bit frosty out here in the disagreement zone, I only popped in for the five minute argument.

Oh, Wisest Fool,
Just when I thought I was the only one like me in the universe...
'their ewe are'!

Dear Nicholas,
Forgive my ignorance (I'm just a starship janitor), but if I understand you correctly, all we have to do is locate
Elvis (assuming the deadness of this star), use his humongous mass, and bend the edges of the piece of
paper to meet us, creating a universal invitation to whomever, whatever, may be lurking on the fringes of our
existence. The good news is that I can stop worrying about Y2K and start stocking up on party napkins and
crank up the Jimmy Buffet!.

Errm.
Did you just make all that up?
I'm sorry to say it's wrong. But who's to say what's wrong anyway? Surely it's a subjective thing...
Sure Isaac H. Newton laid down no kind of grounding for the crvature of space time. Sure I, personally, don't have a clue what you mean by electron field (electro-magnetic? - but the carrier particles in that case are photons?!?).
So fair enough, all subjective oppinions are valid.
But you are wrong though (sorry).
