A Conversation for Denmark: Not a place for car enthusiasts

True!

Gert

I can indeed confirm all of the above. We have been living by the "bye one car, pay for three" principle in Denmark for many years. The amazing bit is that this practice can be allowed to continue despite all effort by the European Union to allow movement of goods and services across the EU internal borders. For example, I can of course buy a car in Germany, but if I wish to put Danish licence plates on it and drive it here, I have to pay a tax specifically calculated to make such cross-border purchases unprofitable. Clever, huh?
