I don't even pay any particular attention to the "actual" temps anymore. The heat index is what seems more relevant. There are some meteorologists (real ones, not the weather readers on TV) that are considering amending the "feels like" temps to incorporate wind speeds as well since winds mitigate higher temps and humidity. I'd much rather know what it's going to "feel like" than some empirical measurements.
But as a 
I hope these meteorologists know that once it gets to a certain hotness, the wind can only mitigate so much. Going 70 mph on a bike in the middle of August around here is like holding two hairdryers on high pointed at your face. The only thing worse is when you stop and get to feel the radiant heat coming off the asphalt.

I'm inclined to agree with you. We have huge floor fans at work. They're okay up to a certain temperature but beyond that you're just getting hot air blown at you and it's more uncomfortable than if the fan was turned off. And it doesn't help that we have a massive pasteurising machine pumping out heat and steam.

Scorchio number seven, and six in a row. When I got up this morning at about 6.30, the thermostat was reading 84° That's the highest so far this year. And as for the cold front that's been forecast for the past several days to give us some good rain and temperatures below 90°... it seems to have decided to go elsewhere

I read this morning that the temperature went down to 67 at the airport some time between 3am and 4am, setting a new record low for today by one degree. We might do the same again at Mabry and/or the airport over the next day or two. By 7am today, Camp Mabry hadn't gone any lower than 74.
Meanwhile, yesterday, a day that last week was being forecast with temperatures in the upper 80s and a 50% chance of storms, ended up at 98° and no rain

The hottest temperature recorded yesterday, at Writtle in Essex, was one degree C above our maximum here. Today's forecast for the south east of England is 39C, which is 102°F, and a good deal warmer than not only today's forecast, but anything we've had yet this summer. They may hit 39C/102F today. Meanwhile, the airport recorded another record low overnight - 59F

It was certainly hot in Nodnol yesterday, but not as hot as Cambridge.
A new provisional record has come in for yesterday: Cambridge Botanic Gardens reached 38.7C according to the Met Office. If this is validated, it will make yesterday the hottest UK day on record. The previous record was 38.5C at Faversham in Kent on 10th August 2003.

I think the fact that we're so much cooler than our average for this time of the year is proof of that. There is no global warming. And as for Cambridge being over 100°, that's just a hoax perpetrated by 2legs.
