The weather duly showed up yesterday, in spades. Just as I was going home The airport set a new rainfall record for the date (4.77") but Camp Mabry didn't, falling about a third of an inch short). We had about a third of an inch in the morning and then it was dry until about 5.30 when there was a heavy shower, but it had almost stopped when I left at 6.00 and I hardly even needed to open my umbrella walking to the bus stop, but at about 6.30 while I was waiting for my second bus, the heavens opened. So there I am, waiting for the worst bus on the network, underneath a metal shelter, and with lightning bolts coming down mere hundreds of yards away And the streets duly turned into rivers. It kept raining like that for a couple of hours, and even after the heaviest bands of red on the radar had passed us by it was still coming down hard, and the thunder was still rolling throughout all of it, and when I went to bed.

And there's our first 100° temperature of the year in the daily records.

We had some weather yesterday evening. A couple of good storm cells passed over us with plenty of lightning and enough rain for me to get an alert (again) on my phone. All of yesterday's 1.82" came within about three hours, 1.7" of it in less than two. This might turn out to be one of those occasions when I have to move my cacti back from the front of the balcony because they getting too much rain.

There were storms most of the night with local street flooding in the area.

We were downgraded one notch yesterday for severe weather, and although there were flash flood warnings and a few local severe thunderstorms there was only a few hours of steady rain late morning/early afternoon. By the evening? Sunny skies. May's racking up a pretty good rain total. 6.68" already and we're only just out of the first week.

Looking at the radar, there are some storms out in the panhandle, just this side of Lubbock and Odessa. It's going to be a good few hours before they get here, by which time I'll be at work, and I believe there won't be any more rain after they pass, so the umbrella will stay at home.
