Yesterday was just grand The freedom to turn on the oven any time I wanted (which I did in the afternoon - the warmest part of the day) without thinking I'd have to turn on the a/c too. Which never went on all day and won't today either, despite me roasting a chicken and baking a cake plus some stuffing and maybe a milk pudding too

Yesterday overnight it got down to around 50 and was downright chilly leaving for work in the morning. Cool again today, but not quite as chilly, at 60.

I love the sound of acorn caps crunching underfoot on a cool, dry Autumn morning.

It's touch and go whether we're going to make it down to the 40s this morning ("this could mark the first time Austin's dipped into the 40s since April 24th"). It was 53 at 5am and 51 an hour later. It's about an hour more until the sun comes up.

I missed yesterday's post because h2g2 was down in the morning and I forget to do it when I got home. However, although we did get a little light rain in the morning, it happened after I got to work, so yes, yesterday was another day of predicted rain when I carried a brolly didn't have to open it.

Dear Bob it was unpleasantly sticky yesterday at work. It doesn't help that there's a huge steam-making machine in the next room which isn't normally operating on a Saturday.

There's a line of storms to the north-east and headed this way that we're towards the tail end of, but we should get 10 or 15 minutes of heavy rain by the look of it. And at just about the time I'm going to work

I didn't go to the Texas Renaissance Festival this weekend, but in a way it feels like I did. I was making some preparations for heading there next weekend including waterproofing my Tent-Cot and checking my bedding and mindlessly left the cover of my small trailer containing all my camping gear open during the heavy rains early Sunday morning.

So, like all those who camped this weekend, I'm drying out all my camping gear.

Oh bother. It looks like you're going to need to keep warm in the tent next weekend. It's going to be very pleasant during the day though.

If I'd gone to work on the bus yesterday instead of getting a lift, I would have looked at the radar, seen that big area of rain heading our way, and decided that it would be advisable to take my umbrella... and I'd have got to work just as the first drops began to fall. In other words, another day when I carry an umbrella and have no need of it, either because it didn't rain or because it rained when I was on the bus or at work. Instead, it mostly rained while we were in the car, and it was heavy rain. Of the 0.69", 0.67" fell in one hour, and it didn't need the entire 60 minutes to do it.

The airport recorded 0.7", split almost exactly between two hours, but again, that's misleading because it only rained for about 30-40 minutes.
