h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Last few blog entries have not appeared here due to BBC software glitch. Such is the internet so what.

I am behind scehdule but the end is in sight. All that bashing away at the computer for the second manuscript, constrained by whose-turn-is-it-for-the-computer not to mention the fight to keep this activity from negatively affecting family life... ... well, here we are. The last two chapters are nothing. But the editing tasks have piled up. There is a certain amount of untangling of narrative to convey the passing of time clearly and plausibly. Then there's the second round of checking historical facts. Then there's the final edit of spelling, grammar and so on. Then, of course, there'll be all that stuff about getting scared and feeling like a failue and getting lary with publishing people. Just like last time. But so much wiser than last time which is what would make failure this time so much harder to take.

Last week I wrote so scathingly about laziness. Forgot to mention I get little waves of lethargy that last a few days in which I'm of no use to man nor beast. Yes, I know there is good reason for I am hitting high on all the stress scales at the moment... Everything seems like a mountain to climb and the idea, the sheer bloody VANITY of writing a novel just seems ridiculous.
