Not really a roundabout at all

I think the easiest way to think of it is as an otherwise perfectly normal (though rather short) road that just happens to be circular. So you're not turning right onto a roundabout, you're turning right onto a road.
Works for me...

When it is really quiet on the roads, and you are driving behind a friend, both approaching the Magic Roundabout, it can be quite scientifically valuable for your friend to take the clockwise route around the roundabout while you take the anticlockwise route, and see which route is the quicker, given right of ways and the effect of the rotation of the Earth.
It is also worth noting the thickness of tyre tread on your vehicle before and after the experiment, to see if that has any bearing on the time taken.
