Frankie Roberto's Tent (Pitch 1)
Frankie Roberto Started conversation Nov 13, 2001
Here stands Frankie Roberto's tent. It is green, canvas, and old. It has been standing here since June and now has a fair amount of wear and tear, with a rip down the side which has been stitched up.
The tent is big enough for many people, and Frankie also has a useful penknife, so feel free to pop in...

Don't know what a penknife is, but I guess it is like a switchblade or a swissarmy knife.
It is also fun to spell backward efinknep.

Yep, a penknife is a swissarmy knife basically. It originally got its name because it was a knife designed for sharpening quills. My penknife has got all manner of gadgets, but the only ones I've ever used are the bottle-opener and the corkscrew.

The campsite makes people use words I don't know (or maybe the hour makes me not know words people use.
What's quills?

Feather pens (like Shakespeare used) :-) Do you know how to spell bivawacking - that's the question. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F45817?thread=151357)

Well, I see you've got one of those old reliable tents... I was almost wishing I had chosen one of them while I was struggling with that tipi...
...anyway, I think I'll have a look at the other pitches - see you around!

They're welcome, after all. I've got a stylish penknife with about 50 blades, all of which I've used for one thing or another . Check out the little booklet you get with it. For instance, the hook thing is handy for pulling up tent pegs. Not that you're likely to be doing that any time soon!

My tent's been here four months and it's not leaving yet.
I occassionally use the knife on my penknife, but the saw thing is useles...

It most certainly is not! You just have to know when to use it. The one that looks really nasty and serrated is good for wood, especially for cutting down branches to use as really bad army cadet camouflage.
