In their most recent contract signing, the core crew had to sign onto a deal that would pay them each $500,000 for the first movie and $1,000,000 for the second (should Fox opt for a second movie). The Simpsons is a great series, don't get me wrong, but what are they hoping to accomplish by making a movie other than the heaps of money it will make? Is there any way a movie can be made that can somehow expand the methodic formula of the Simpsons from 21 1/2 minutes to 90 minutes without it becoming old and boring? No, I don't think there is.

I disagree with your statement regarding making a 90 minute Simpsons episode boring. The "Who Shot Mr. Burns" two parter would have made for an excellent film.
