I never use textspeak on hootoo, that's a first.
Maybe some mothers will drop by soon and understand how I feel about not being mother of the bride in the flesh. I'd have looked sensational on Elvis' arm.
Um, I'm wallowing in self-pity now, I just can't bring myself to be happy for them, right now. I'm off to bed to cry myself to sleep.

well, what's stopping you? go out and buy a new hat, girl - and while you're at it: why stop at that? buy yourself a whole new outfit and celebrate your new position in life
yes, i know you you wanted to be there. mothers are like that. it's in the genes. i disappointed my own mum and mum-in-law the same way. but i had my reasons and i guess your daughter and son-in-law have theirs as well.
anyway, i hope you get over it. i'm sure you will, in time
ps: we did have a wedding diner a few weeks after we got hitched, btw. why don't you throw one for the young couple?

I recieved a text from Sunshine once that began:
"You always said that if something makes us happy it's OK with you, so don't be alarmed but..."
...and then she went on to tell me of something that she knew I'd be sad about, but that she was delighted for herself. Well, she was right of course. Everyone of us should occasionally do things just because, and I have always told my girls that their happiness will make me happy.
So, stop feeling sorry. I think the text is lovely! She's spent more words telling you about the party she'll have when she returns, because she knows you very well and understands how you will be feeling right now. That's one very thoughtful daughter and you should be proud.
You'll get to organise that party? Or at least have a big part in it? I think she wants you to. So get planning!

Hi GB! I think you should get a new hat, too. Something to remind you of the happy reason for that text.
You know, I think it's really nice that you got some happy news. And now you've got a big shindig to look forward to! Woohoo!! Better get some dancing shoes, too!

I'm not really here Posted Feb 13, 2007
I may be a bit dense, but is this a 'legal' marriage, or just like a 'blessing', but with Elvis?
It is a bit sad not being able to see her tie the knot, but the party is always the best bit anyway.

In today's paper it says that the most overweight and obese people in the USA live in Las Vegas. That must mean 'in the world'. Not a place I'd want to be seen dead in, I'm sorry to say. Anyway, good luck to the happy couple.

being wed in 'lost vages' by an obse elvis impersonator isn't my idea of a good time either
actually, the 'being wed'-thingy alone is repulsive

My reaction would have been the same as yours, GB.
But you have to admire them for even managing to get an appointment for the 14th - Valentine's Day! Even in Las Vegas, where everything is impromptu, that must be a very busy day.
